Near East University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Rauf Denktaş International Exlibris Competition 2011

The Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Near East University have organized an international exlibris competition open to all artists and designers. The competition has been organised in honour of the Founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, His Excellency Rauf Denktaş.

 

 

H.E. Rauf Denktaş, the legendary political leader and founder of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is known for his passion for photography.
The aim of the competition:

To contribute to the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

To transmit to future generations H.E. Rauf Denktaş’s contribution to art

To bring about awareness in the study of art


Conditions:

1.The competition is open to everybody (immediate relatives of the selection committee are not permitted to participate in the competition).


2.The competition must be in accordance with the theme of honouring H.E. Rauf Denktaş.

3. Participants may submit a maximum of 5 different exlibrises. Submitted works must not have been previously published elsewhere.


4. Exlibrises are to be forwarded as follows:
- 5 copies are to be submitted
- On the back of only one copy there should be a 5 figure code to identify the contestant and no other markings at all. The envelope should be marked “evaluation copy”.
- The remaining 4 copies are to be signed by the artist. The artist should then write their name, print technique (autography), year of production and size in clear legible handwriting on the back. The 4 copies along with the application form should then be put into an envelope (marked with the same code).
- This process must be repeated for each study.
- Prepared small envelopes may be collected and sent in one large envelope.
5. All duplication techniques are acceptable apart from photocopying.
6. The printing area should be no larger than 13x13cm and the paper no larger than A4 size. The exlibrises must be delivered without making any passe-partout.
7. Last Entry Date: 01/11/2011.
The works/studies can be hand delivered or sent by post. Works delivered by post must be well packaged in order to prevent any damage.

10. The exlibrises that have been exhibited and won an award will feature in the prepared catalogue; a copy of which will be sent to each participant.
11. All exlibrises submitted for the competition will not be returned. Exhibited exlibrises will be retained by Near East University and all copyrights will belong to Near East University.
12. Selected exlibrises for exhibition will be put on display from November 2011.
13. By partaking in this competition all participants are deemed to accept the rules and regulations of the selection committee.
14. Awards:
3 first awards of €1,500 (Euros).
5 mention awards of €500 (Euros).
The selection committee may also grant “honour awards” to contestants they may consider worthy.
